Color plays a vitally important role in the world in which we live. Color can sway thinking, change actions, and cause reactions. It can irritate or soothe your eyes, raise your blood pressure or even suppress your appetite. It is also an essential element of a company’s brand identity.
RoomKeyPMS continually strives to evolve and improve to ensure we deliver the best product, solutions, and experiences for our hoteliers and to set ourselves apart from the rest in our industry – including assessment of our brand colors.
We are very excited to announce the launch of our new colors and logo.
A key consideration for changing our brand colors was assessing their web accessibility. The W3C Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) brings together people from industry, disability organizations, government, and research labs from around the world to develop guidelines and resources to help make the Web accessible to people with disabilities including auditory, cognitive, neurological, physical, speech, and visual disabilities. WAI’s coverage of web accessibility includes ‘web content’ (websites and web applications), authoring tools (such as content management systems (CMS) and blog software), browsers and other ‘user agents’, including WAI-ARIA for accessible rich Internet applications.
In our assessment, we discovered that orange does not fit within these accessibility guidelines and that in itself, was the reason to make the change! In addition to this, we looked at the character traits and emotional effects of the accessible color options and put it to a company vote – it was decided that magenta was the best fit for us!
