RoomKeyPMS recently had the opportunity to attend BITAC in Bermuda, the technical, sales & operations meet up attracting top decision-makers from prominent independent & branded hotel, gaming, and resorts. There were many great topics of conversation and idea exchange, however one topic was dominant in all conversations, including on the discussion panel RoomKeyPMS Vice President of Sales & Marketing Jeff Hamilton sat on, the impact of changing technology in hotels. The three areas of conversation that were most prominent were:
- Technology for guest engagement is of high interest, and Hoteliers are trying to get their arms wrapped around better ways to use technology to connect with their customers. Whether it be social media, email marketing or text messaging
- Ease of use with technology, a big concern as many hoteliers are frustrated with technology products that are too complicated. When things get complicated, user adoption drops, and the power and tools available to hoteliers simply are not being harnessed.
- Big data, hoteliers are trying to better understand their data. Whether it be from a PMS, POS or the mini bar. The data that is literally at their fingertips offers tremendous insight and knowledge to draw from. Reporting and understanding this data needs to be simple, easy to access and hoteliers want customizable dashboards that reflect their needs.
The pace of change is fast, hoteliers are looking for technology that is reliable, impacts their operations, and improves the guest experience.
